My Village Shop is an organisation that helps rural stores become resilient, successful, and valued community hubs. Drawing on my experience working in a village shop and my interest in retail and rural life, I developed strategic branding, marketing tools and community engagement strategies to boost local loyalty and visibility. The organisation’s initiatives include a website, visual identity, promotional materials and a pebble painting community project that celebrates the shop’s social and economic role. Through research, I discovered that over 1,000 UK rural stores closed between 2018 and 2024. This highlighted the urgency of my work, which recognises that village shops offer far more than essentials - they are vital spaces for connection, belonging, and everyday support, and remain the lifeblood of rural communities.
